Responding to an Emergency
Gas leaks, or suspected gas leaks should be treated as an emergency situation. If you believe that you have a gas leak:
You should –
- Turn off any outdoor power equipment.
- Leave the affected area immediately.
- Contact your nearest WTG district office.
- Keep others from entering the area.
You should NOT -
- Turn any light switches on or off.
- Use a telephone in the immediate vicinity.
- Attempt to repair the leak yourself.
- Attempt to operate pipeline valves.
- Touch, inhale, or come into any form of contact with leaking gases or liquids.
