Responding to an Emergency 

Gas leaks, or suspected gas leaks should be treated as an emergency situation.  If you believe that you have a gas leak: 

You should –

  1. Turn off any outdoor power equipment.
  2. Leave the affected area immediately.
  3. Contact your nearest WTG district office.
  4. Keep others from entering the area. 

You should NOT -      

  1. Turn any light switches on or off.
  2. Use a telephone in the immediate vicinity.
  3. Attempt to repair the leak yourself.
  4. Attempt to operate pipeline valves.
  5. Touch, inhale, or come into any form of contact with leaking gases or liquids.
